| Well it doesn't have to be a 'town'. Whether you live in a village, or a city, by the coast or in the country, why not tell us a bit about your local area. | |

| Okay well I am very fortunate to live in a very beautiful city - The Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. Where we are its on a 14 kilometre stretch of beaches and we are about in the middle and is classed as the top tourist spot on the Coast. Not sure if this is always a good thing as the shops getting pretty busy when holidays are on, but most of the time its Gods country. The saying goes "Fine one day, sunny the next" We dont have the 4 seasons as they do down South but who cares. We dont have a winter as such here, in fact only need to wear sweaters and warm clothes in the winter early morning and late afternoons.......during the days its short sleeves. Summers can get hot although in saying that we really havent had one this year due to the droughts/floods but plenty in Australia have. I will try to find a picture to put in here to give you a better idea later. This is Mooloolaba Beach where I live This is in the park on the beachfront. Maggie...... | |

| Oh Gee Maggie, What a beautiful place to live. If I ever went there for a holiday, I would never want to come home. That holiday apartment block that is featured, is that the same one you posted a pic of in the 'weekend away' thread ? I can see several sky scrapers right near the beach, are they 'holiday' or 'residential' homes.? Imagine being on the 'top' floor of one of those, WOW. And a park on the beach front too. No wonder it's called 'God's country' it must be heaven to live there. Thanks for sharing these Maggie. | |

| The building that is named - Bellardoo Apartments just happen to be the picture I picked to put on here, not for any reason but it was an aerial view and the best I could find. And no that is not the same apartment block as the one in weekends away. This one is here......the other one, Ramada is in Ballina
The skyscapers along the waterfront are only 12 floors high, that is the limit here. And they are mostly holiday accommodation however, there are permanents in all of them also.
In between them are shops etc.......its very pretty.
The apartments are mostly on the beachfront and behind them are residential living houses and units.
Love it here. | |

| It looks like a beautiful and peaceful place to live Ichthus. I bet it looks wonderful on a bright, sunny day in the summer. It looks like your up on a hill there and is that your church we can see ? That 'distant' view - can you see that far all around you up there ? That field in the 'foreground' looks like a great place to watch the sun come up in the mornings. Great place for picnics too. That small pic of where you live looks like your in a small village. The kind of place that is miles from a shopping center. Thanks for sharing these great pics Ichthus | |

| I have never been to the UK, but it looks like pictures we see here in Australia - typical English. Beautiful countryside.
And where you live looks like a little country town?

| Well rosecandle your half right. The church in the centre of the picture is the Parish church. About half a mile away as the photograph is take, but a mile and a half if your gonna go there by road. My place of worship is a Baptist curch half a mile walking to the left of the picture, but up a steep hill. Not wise to have a picnic in the field. The field is on quite an incline down to the wall and on the other side is a steep drop of about 100 feet to the road below. Behind me when taking the picture the hill continues to rise so you cant see much without getting a sore neck The area where my home is a well established community (about 130 years) of perhaps 100 dwellings. The new estate in the bottom right corner is perhaps 20 years old. And you are quite right no shops within 1 mile but all at the bottom of hills. There is an hourly bus service until 6pm but after that and in the evenings and Sunday aftgernoon 2 hourly. Just possible we shall be loosing that in 8 days, (they will not tell us). But I like it. This is from where I am now sitting looking roughly South | |
